Hey gang… Took a very needed few days off! and we are off to Chicago tomorrow to make more magic for the fans… lol! But I wanted take this time to post a video that is very important to me.! DJ Miki War co-host of THE most successful Online/streaming internet show “Miki D’z show” and Dj City general sat down and had a few words with me during my Rolling Paper’s Tour. My year so far has been amazing! I toured all over the country and Europe! Played some of the most amazing shows! Was able to rock on TV! And of course make history with one of the biggest artist in the game right now! But before this I had a big health scare and the end of last year! I had a heart attack! Yes a heart attack! Because of this my goal is too help young adults to think more about their health. To make them aware of the number 1 killer in America HEART DISEASE! Everyone is prone to it! And no one is invincible! As my blog expands in the next few weeks and months I will make regular post on how to lower your risk of heart disease and how to maintain a healthy (but fun) lifestyle! This weekend I will be turning 31 years old! Through everything that has happened I’ve come to really appreciate life! It hurts me to to think that I could have a shorter expiration date because of poor lifestyle habits. But i know it is up to me to extended this through my daily choices in life! After all these years of hard work and finally experiencing the “dream come true” of this year, I want to continue this and see/taste/smell/feel and smell everything I can in this world! But I also want to do this with a purpose which is to help YOU realize how important your health is! This is only the begging! Thanks to Miki and all the guys at DJ city for this! This video was posted a few weeks ago. But I wanted to wait when things settle down to share this with you! PLEASE PASS THIS ON for this is only the beginning of a life’s work.

Last night I attended the BMI Urban Music Awards! This show awards the best songwriters and producer’s of the year! Drake was the big winner of the night. He won awards for what seemed to be countless song’s he written and performed. Lex Lugar who is only 20 years old won the Producer of the year award! Other producers and artist like, T-Minus, Dj Khaled, Jim Jonsin, and tons more were all awarded for their work! The biggest part of the night was BMI awarding Snoop Dogg for with an ICON award! A montage of artist (Wiz, Lady of Rage, Nas, Daz Korupt, Charlie WIlson, Bootsy Collins, The Game, Too Short, Warren G and Dr. Dre) paid homage to Snoop! It truly was an inspiring night! Just to be in a room with all that talent makes me motivated to work hard! Seeing Lex Lugar being praised and being the youngest producer of the year is some big tits! Seeing Dr. Dre and all the artist fully pay respect to their homie too was also a surreal moment for me! I grew up listening to all those artist and just being apart of a moment like that makes me so blessed! I got gang loads of pics of the night and VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO!!!!

So look out for goodies on the BLOG!!!!! I’m gonna start with sharing a dope mix from my friends up North!!!! I’d like to introduce “The Freshest!” – DJ’s Marvel, Rico Uno, Seko, and KutCorners. These dope DJ’s from Vancouver can do it all! They released a mix a few weeks ago called “The Surf Down” This mix is dope cause it showcases some joints that you may or may have not peeped by some artist you may or may not know! The mix includes joints from Snoop, Tyler the Creator, Theopholis London, Beyonce, Ice Cube, of course my man WIZ, and more. It also includes some remixes by the Freshest themselves! Thanks to Neil from State Of Mind for taking the footage!
Oh yeah another successful run in the books! our 2 week European run ends in the north part of the UK at Edinburgh, Scotland! What a great place to end the tour! I got a chance to link with my dood Neil from the State of Mind Clothing store in Scotland! He took me around Scotland and gave me the tour. The castle, the shopping, and the scenery! It was also during the time of Edinburgh’s art’s and music festival which happens every year in August! The streets were filled with tourist, performers, and artist. All this with the beautiful and historic Edinburgh as the back drop for everything going on! The city is amazing! So much to see and do! I went to check out the Edinburgh Castle. This castle has been here for ever! I’m talking like 12 century old school! It’s was a great pleasure to see the castle inside and out! So much history!
The last show took place at The Liquid Room! A nice small intimate venue with a bad ass sound system! The crowd loved every second and sung every word! I got a video coming in the next post of WIz and us performing “Wake Up”Thanks to all the parties involved in making it a wonderful tour! Props to Michael our tour manager! Andy our sound guy and the rest of the amazing staff! Big shout to the Gang
The V-Fests are one of the most notable Festivals in the UK. The Line-up is insane and ranges from acts like Eminem, Bruno Mars, Artic Monkeys, to Katy B. Unreal to be on the same line-up with some of these artist. The Festivals are huge and just to see what it takes on the production side of the festival! I’m talking over 50 artist! We played the arena stage at each festival and the fans were out to support WIz Khalifa’s and the Rolling Paper’s invasion to the UK. The fans were mad mashing, throwing drinks, and cheering after every word Wiz uttered! One of the best moments for me was having lunch with Chromeo on the second day and talking hip hop. Big Shout out to those doods! I got a few pics of the shows and some of the festival! One more show to go!!!
Switzerland! What you know about that! Well I didn’t get to see much but the inside of the the Zurich Renaissance Hotel is all i saw. We were exhausted. We just had come from the airport and a sleepless night at Pukklepop. Text and tweets came all night with questions and concerns about the tragedies at the festival. Lot’s of people asked me what I though and I’m almost in disbelief still. You should check out my video in the previous post that i recorded during the storm. It seemed like an older hotel. Will said the TV was from 1995. Ha ha. Pink tint windows. I ordered some room service and slept till about 7:00 and we headed to the Royal Arena Festival. The drive was a about an hour away in Orpund. We pulled in to what seem like a small wooded area where we could here the sounds of the Pharcyde performing their last couple songs before we had to hit the stage. Method Man, Redman, Immortal technique were on the line-up that night after us, but it seemed as always an overwhelming number of Taylor’s there to rep the gang! They crowd went nuts and I remember specifically thinking that it got a little more roddier than they thought! I don’t think people really realize the connection that Wiz has with his fans. The show, which was smaller than most of the festivals we did, was a smash! It’s great to see people in Switzerland get together in the name of hip-hop. Seeing something that was underground and so organic and born in the U.S. make such an impact on the world, (and seeing first hand) is an amazing thing! As soon as we were done, we drove back to Zurich and hit an after party! We did a short 3 song set and put on for the fans! Thanks to Reto and Double for making a great night! Can’t wait to return to Switzerland!
This vIdeo was taken right after Wiz Khalifa’s performance at Pukkelpo. This was the Dance Hall Stage and was not damaged in the storm. Directly to the right of us outside is where one of the tents collapsed. Check for photos of it here.
A few more days left in this European run and tragedy hit today at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium. A massive storm ripped through the festival damaging stages, tents, screens, scaffolds.etc. It was reported that 3 people have died and up to 70 people were injured in todays storm. We were just finishing up our set when the storm ripped through. You can literally see the tent we were in shaking back and forth as the crowd was too distracted by Wiz on stage. Then I got the signal to cut the music and everyone realized there was a deadly storm happening. We all made it back to our tour bus safely! I was able to walked around the festival grounds after the storm and take lots of pictures of the aftermath. People crying, confused, cheering, drinking, eating, it was pretty chaotic. This is a show no one will ever forget. Sometimes through all the traveling and fun times it’s easy to forget how precious our lives our. The victims that died were here for music. of this music! They came for the music and their lives ended in tragedy. My prayers and thoughts go out to the deceased and injured. I have some video of the crazy storm here . http://www.djbonics.com/?p=1329
Here’s a news story on what happened: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s3297357.htm
After 2 great days in Hamburg we continued our journey through Germany. Our next stop was Cologne. I had a few hours before the show to trek around the city! I got to see some amazing stuff! There are lots of great old architecture around the city. The massive Cologne Cathedral over looks the city and the longest river, the Rhine, runs through it! There is a perfect mix of new meets old in Cologne. On one street you’ll find a building that dates back hundreds of years ago and on the next block you might see 5 H&M’s. I even got a portrait painted of myself from an old lady who seemed to have painted in front of the Cathedral for years. The show later that night was one of the most memorable! Why? Cause it was extremely hot! I mean uncomfortable! People were passing out left and right. I even thought i was gonna faint on stage for a moment! We pulled it through and the crowd cheered the whole way! A great night in Cologne! Enjoy the Pics!
